DESALINATION PLANT HF-RO: ULTRAFILTRATION AND REVERSE OSMOSIS ON A SKID

The HF-RO combines hollow fiber ultrafiltration with seawater reverse osmosis. The ultrafiltration removes sediments, colloids, bacteria, and viruses and feeds the reverse osmosis directly, without an intermediate tank. This allows the system to process raw water that would quickly clog a conventional reverse osmosis system with cartridge filters: nearshore seawater, harbor water, river mouths, and water with highly variable turbidity.

PERFORMANCE DATA (Design for 36,000 mg/l, 25 °C)
- Inlet flow: 5.0 m³/h
- Permeate flow: approx. 2.06 m³/h, approximately 48 m³/day with 24-hour operation
- Inlet salinity: 250 to 43,000 mg/l (sea, brackish, and river water)
- Inlet temperature: +2 to +33 °C
- Inlet turbidity: up to 300 NTU, sediment up to 150 mg/l
- Permeate: 150 to 500 mg/l, 300 to 1,000 µS/cm, retention rate 99.6%

PROCESS
1. Disc filtration: 2 automatic disc filters 2" in duplex operation, 100 µm, backflushing with filtrate and compressed air during operation
2. Hollow fiber ultrafiltration: 4 modules, outside-in, 0.01 µm (100,000 Dalton), filtrate approx. 0.2 NTU, cyclic backflushing with air, the remaining modules continue to produce

3. Reverse osmosis: low-pulsation axial piston high-pressure pump (4.08 m³/h at 63 bar, motor 8.5 kW), 4 RO modules in GRP pressure pipes, max. 65 bar, automatic pressure and flow control

CLEANING
- integrated CIP for ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis
- cleaning tank 2 x 100 l with 7.5 kW heater
- 3 pneumatic dosing pumps for cleaning agents and chlorine
- programmed disinfection, long-term preservation, and re-commissioning

EQUIPMENT
- materials: low-pressure ABS, high-pressure 1.4539 and 1.4410 super duplex, high-pressure pump 1.4462 duplex, tanks PP, frame stainless steel
- valves in only two nominal sizes, interchangeable pumps, low variety of spare parts
- PLC with 15.6" touch panel, Ethernet interface for remote monitoring
- control of a frequency-controlled inlet pump
- control cabinet 400 V / 50 Hz, approx. 18 to 20 kW, IP65

APPLICATIONS
Drinking and utility water for coastal and island supply, resorts and camps, desalination of harbor and river mouth water, process water for industry on the coast, emergency water supply, pilot operation for larger projects.

SCOPE OF DELIVERY
Main skid with disc filters, ultrafiltration, high-pressure pump, CIP system and control cabinet, RO module stand with 4 modules, internal piping and wiring, documentation (P&I, layout, process description).

Not included in the scope of delivery (optional): inlet pump, compressed air supply, container housing, transport, installation, commissioning, training.
